3. Just before dinner orders came
for Shafer, Shannon, [Ketzley?] & I
to report to Hdq. 2" Div for duty
which of course caused much
excitement for those concerned
However had dinner, dressed
up & went on a hunt for Hdq.
Could find no one who knew
where they were so had a ride
about all over the park. finally
locating & reported to Maj.
Derby who informed us that
we were to sail on 18th Oct. Some
news. Hard to say how it
struck us. first as a surprise
then, elation & depression had
their turns. but on the whole
all seemed anxious to start
Most of the boys at Evac. Hosp.
envious. Advised to get our
equipment together.

No more duties at Camp so
packed up our luggage & only
report by phone to Hdq. Await-
ing orders. Bought trench coat
& coat-sweater, 15.00 each. [xpect?]
to [fix?] for warmth & comfort as far
as I can.
5" Wire from Byrne the he & Krom
would arrive Sat. 10.55 A.M.
6" Met the boys at station, & sure-
ly glad to see 'em. Had lunch
fixed for 'em at aprt. Long
auto ride over park & to the
country club in P.M. Dinner
at Patten. Spent evening at
rooms. They to leave 5.15 in
A.M.

Have lolled about the room
all day, reading & sleeping.
Enjoyed very much having
Krom & Byrne with us.
Inactivity while waiting for orders
quite dull after the active life at
Camp, but suspect when they do
come there will be plenty to do
& too short a time in which to do it
