10-14              October
officers & all seem very pleasant.
Have about all of equipment &
like the rest __ that know we're
to sail.  All are anxious to have
it hurry & start.  Unable to get
any definite information as to
exact date of place of sailing.

14-21
The past several days have been
ones of anxious expectancy - Equip
for men only thing holding us up
      Simply marking time. fixing
      [openings?] up slowly.
      In town with Capt. Donnelly
Sat. night. Best bill yet at Rialt                                                                                              .
Past 4 days unusually cold at
night.  Slight colitis for 2 days.
      Rain & mud 17-18

       Another busy week of getting
       clothing equipment distributed
Helped Maj. Carson in Q.M. Corps.
       Dished [out?]Capt. Bowens [?]
1" Co. Mil. Pol. Capt. Roberts,
        1" [Caison?] Capt. [..sed?]. Enjoyed
        being kept busy.  Inactivity
beginning to get my goat &
        loafing is a hard job
In town Sat. P.M. with Maj.
Carson. Man spoke to me in
Patten whom I had not the
        slightest recollection of. turned
out to be Charlie Robert. whom
        I hadn't seen for 20 years.
           Certainly never would have
known him, is a Capt. in 1" Co.
[?] [?] Have written to Dit
        every day.
         Much disappointment mongst
boys as all had impression we
were to sail 18", but delays in
         receiving equipment seem to
pile up.  Each day a new lot
of dope abroad as to sailing
date but Q.M. says not for
        10 days yet.  Ordnances
         late, requisitions misplaced.
