July 25

     I sleepily got up kind o’ early to

go to Jones Beach with Mother, Lizzie,

and Florence.  We put on our suits

and got half-drowned in the

rolling breakers – lay around on

the beach – and munched hot

dogs.  We came home for awhile

and then Mother and I went to

the hospital to find Dad’s spirits

slightly improved.

     This evening Louise and Joyce

came over to talk and have Joyce

borrow my bridesmaid dress.

Bill’s orders have been changed

and he’s scheduled to have a 10-

day delay in route before heading

for the South Pacific.  A hurry-up

wedding may come off this weekend!

     A darling “Dearest Child” early

birthday card from Jimmy and an

interesting letter from Floyd.
