AUGUST 2
A quiet morning spent in writing
letters was followed by driving into
New York with Mother to meet Joanie, who
had half a day off. We drove on over
to Brooklyn for lunch at Michel’s
and then sat in Prospect Park for
awhile. Afterwards we went back to
the hospital – sat around on the roof,
and the like. A very restful day;
though I keep dreading my ordeal
tomorrow.
A four page letter from Bill
Brennan was amusingly interesting. –
his life in Manila must be
something!
The Big Three (Truman, Stalin and
Atlee) Conference is ended, with the
decisions revealed. It looks as
though Russia got the most and the
U.S. the least, of the bargain. – As usual.
