The Glee Club John William Hartzell, Jr., Director Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing 6371 Sherwood Road Philadelphia, Pennsylvania May 8, 1974 Ms. Kathleen C. Moriarty, Accompanist The William and Mary Choir The College of William and Mary Williamsburg, Virginia 23185 Dear Ms. Moriarty: Of course, this has to be a love letter. If you were male or ugly it would be mere praise; since you are neither male nor ugly my expression only can be a love letter. But the impetus for his billet-doux is neither your femininity nor your regal beauty; your talent commands my most respectful applause. Your technique throughout the recent concerts of the Choir showed the most sensitive musicianship while your playing was complementary to the music rather than only supportive of the Choir. It is difficult for me to comprehend the talent, tenacity, patience, understanding, technique, and intellect which an accompanist for Dr. Fehr must possess. You must abound in all those traits, and many more, to perform with such beautiful authority. Pappy, the Choir, and especially the audiences are vastly in your debt. Yours very truly, John William Hartzell, Jr.
